He was called a Lost Antler as they rode deer and they called a courageous deer wa hero the Deer king from what was explained. At the end he became the Dog King so that Yuna didn't have to. The Doctor Kept Zol away from the village protecting the people and the deer and plant medicine that produced the cure to flourish hence creating an actual peace where the Zol could not control and enslave the the Fire village people at the same time. All we really see at the end is his deet with the wolves which is likely to state that he's alright.However he's likely alsdo keeping the virus at bay too.

Watching this I had Princess Mononoke vibes. LoL.

It indeed had that vibe to this when I saw this in theaters.

Wow, I am so glad quality anime still exists. This was a pleasant surprise.

I thought it was a series at first and I was like wow, a series that doesn't have a weak/OP teenage boy with girls fawning over him. But it's a movie of course, lol. Still a very good quality one, I am glad real story telling is alive and well still. I've legitimately been worried lately.

it does but we still get 90% anime that don't ahve anything original or new to add. Lasts season I mixed up 3 different shows that looked so similar I literally could not tell them apart except by the show's cover art.
